RESOLUTION NO. 629
RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO LEVY A HOTEL AND
MOTEL ROOM TAX OF FOUR PER CENT (4%)
WHEREAS, 1963 State Legislation provided the authroity for cocnties
and general law cities to levy a hotel and motel room tax of four pe~ cen' (4%)
ana
WHEREAS, it is felt that such a tax would be more equitable if .,'.niformly
levied by all cities within the county as well as by the county government; and
WHEREAS, this city feels the need for additional funds to be used
fo~ tie promotion of tourism within the city and county; and
WHEREAS, other cities and the county will undoubtedly also feel the
ne2d for such financial support for a program for the promotion of tourism;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Arroyo
C,-'ande" California, that it intends to levy a hotel and motel room tax by
ordinance which will become effective at such time as all cities within the
county andjthe county government have passed similar ordinances.
3E IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council reserves the right to 12vy
sicch a tax by Ordinance whether or not the other cities and the county go
along with the program, such decision to be made at a later date in the
event there is not unanimous participation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded
to the County Board of Supervisors, along with a request that the Board'~ass
a similar Resolution.
On motion of Councilman McNeil, seconded by Councilman W60d. and on
the following roll call vote. to-wit:
AYES: Councilwoman Thompson, Councilmen Wood, McNeil. Burt and Mayor
Jacobs
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
