RESOLUTION NO. 622
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE IN SUPPORT OF THE SOUTH SAN
LUIS OBISPO COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT SEWER
BOND PROPOSITION ON THE SPECIAL ELECTION ON
MAY 19TH, 1964.
WHEREAS, it is mandatory that the South San Luis Obispo County
Sanitation District which includes Arroyo Grande, Oceano and Halcyon,
i~ediately eliminate the HEALTH HAZARD of improperly treated sewage
waste waters from the existing Arroyo Grande sewer farm and the many
individual septic tanks and cesspools in the District which are con-
taminating the local ground water supply; and
WHEREAS, the most economical and reasonable solution to existing
sewage collection and disposal problems is the proposed project which'
includes a basic system of major trunk sewers and a sewage treatment
plant and ocean outfall; and
WHEREAS, the South San Luis Obisip County Sanitation District is
holding a special election on May 19, 1964, to authorize the issuance
of $1,600,000 to finance the proposed project; and
WHEREAS, the said general obligation bonds must be authorized for
the Sanitation District to be eligible to receive a grant of $493,200
from the Federal government toward the project; and
WHEREAS, the general obligation bonds, the most economical and
equitable method of financing the project, will be paid over a thirty-
year period so that present and future users of the facilities will
share in the repayment of costs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the city Council of the City
of Arroyo Grande does hereby favor and recommend a "YES" vote on the
sewer bond proposition being submitted to the voters at said special
election on May 19, 1964.
On motion of Councilman McNeil , seconded by
Councilwoman Thompson , and on the following roll call
vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilman Wood, Councilwoman Thompson, Councilmen McNeil,
NOES: None Burt & Mayor Jacobs
ABSENT: None
