R 0615 RESOLUTION NO. 615 A RESOLUTION URGING THE ECONOMIC DEVELOP- MENT OF PORT SAN LUIS, CALIFO:lliIA. WHEREAS, Port San Luis, California, is a fine natural harbor partially protected by a Fedp.ral breakwater; and WHEREAS, the port has long been used by oil tankers and other ocean~going vessels and by commercial fishing craft and pleasure boats, in spite of being only partially protected; and WHEREt.S, winter storms and high winds from the southeast create considerable hazard at the port and cause loss of boats and other damage, due to the fact that the port is not protected from the southeast; and WHEREAS, the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers has been author- ized by Resolutions adopted on April 28, 1958 by the Committee on Public Works of the Senate, Eighty-Fifth Congress, and by similar Resolution adopted July 16, 1958, by the Committee on Public Works of the U. S. House of Representatives, Eighty-Fifth Congress, to make a review report on Port San Luis; and WHEREt.S, such Review Report having been made under date of December 1, 1961, by the Corps of Engineers, wherein it is reported that 'an economically feasible harbor can be provided at Port San Luis, and that it would have a ratio of average annual benefits to average annual charges of 4 to 1; and WHEREAS, the Port San Luis Harbor Commission has by Reeolution No. 65 declared itself ready and willing to cooperate with the Federal Government in any improvement and development project authorized by the Federal Government by providing and maintaining all local facilities, access roads, parking areas and other shore facilities as required for the completion of the project, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE AS FOLLOWS: That this City Council urges the authorization of the modi- fications in the existing project for San Luis Obispo Harbor, California, recommended by the Chief of Engineers in his letter to the Secretary of the Army of May 9, 1963 (including the re- naming of such project as Port San Luis, California) and as pro- posed in H.R. 7341 introduced by Mr. Talcott under date of June 27, 1963, and referred to the Committee on Public Works. On motion of Councilman McNeil , seconded by Councilman McMillen , and on the following roll call vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen MCMillen, McNeil, Jacobs and Mayor Burt NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Wood the foregoing Resolution was adopted this 13th day of April , 1964.
