RESOLUTION NO. 590
A RESOLUTIOl'l OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TH", CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE AUTHORIZING THE IMMEDIATE
EXPENDITURE OF PUBLIC MONEY ARISING OUT OF THE
OCCURRENCE OF A GREAT PUBLIC CALAMITY OR DISASTER
AS PROVIDED FOR IN SECTION 37906 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE.
WHEREAS , the City of Arroyo Grande secures its water supplies
from three (3) wells and water storage from two separate reservoirs~ and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that all three (3) wells be available
so as to insure sufficient supply of water for all municipal needs; and
WHEREAS , there appears considerable possibility that one of the
three wells may become incapacitated; and
WHEREAS, the two (2) water storage reservoirs being separately
supplied there appears considerable possibility that the reservoir serving
the east portion of the City will not be able to store sufficent water to
serve this areaJ and
WHEREAS , if said situation occurred~ the City of Arroyo Grande
would be without sufficient and adequate water supplies for the needs of its
inhabitants, its municipal needs and for fire protection; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to immediately proceed with the instal_
lation of a deep turbine pump on the well not now in use by the Oity, located
on the City's property on Elm Street; and
WHEREAS , it is necessary to immediately proceed with the instal.
lation of a 12" water main to tie the two reservoirs together;' an9-
WHEREAS, the cost of such pump and line will likely exceed the
sum of Two Thousand ($2,000.00) Dollars I and
WHEREAS, the circumstances above related appear to fall within
the provisions of Section 37906 of the Government Code,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Public interest and
necessity demand immediate expenditure of Public Money for the construction
of a water line and pump to safeguard Life, Health and Property by providing
adequate water for the City of Arroyo Grande.
On motion of Councilman Wood, seconded by Councilman McNeil
and on the following roll call vote, to~wit:
AYES: Councilmen Lee, Wood, McNeil and Mayor Burt
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Jacobs
