RESOLUT ION NO. 537
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO
GRANDE RELATIVE TO POLICY IN CONNECTION WITH ANNEXATIONS.
WHEREAS, from time to time the City of Arroyo Grande has re-
ceived requests for the initiation of annexation proceedings and/or
has initiated annexation proceedings on its own motion; and
WHEREAS, such proposed annexations may from time to time involve
property lying within the territorial jurisdiction of other govern-
mental entities such as districts or unincorporated towns; and
WHEREAS, it appears desirable in the interests of the Arroyo
Grande Valley geographical areas solidarity that the City of Arroyo
Grande give notice of its intention to annex property which would
include any portion of any governmental entities such as a district or
unincorporatedtowri to such govermmental entity prior to the initiation
of any such proceedings.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that it is the policy of the City
of Arroyo Grande to advise any go~ernmental entity, such as a district
or unincorporated town, of the intention of the City of Arm yo Grande
to annex any property constituting a part or portion of any such
governmental entity prior to the initiation by said City of any annex-
ation proceedings.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution of policy shall not
require any particular number of days to elapse between the time of
such notice and the time of the initiation of any such proceeding
but shall merely require that some notice be given the governmental
entity involved so that it may be aware of any intention on the part
of the City of Arroyo Grande to consider the annexation of any such
area.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the failure to comply with the terms
of this stated policy shall not void or invalidate any proceedings
otherwise taken in strict conformity with the provisions of the
statutory law relative to annexation of territory by municipalities.

NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Jacobs
