MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
MONDAY, OCTOBER 21, 1991
CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 215 EAST BRANCH STREET
ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA
The City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande met at 7:30 P.M., with Mayor Mark
M. Millis presiding.
1. ROLL CALL
Present were Mayor Millis and Council Members A. K. "Pete" Dougall, Gene Moots
and B'Ann Smith. Staff members present were City Manager Chris Christiansen, Deputy City
Clerk Mary Bassett, Police Chief Rick TerBorch, Planning Director Doreen Liberto-Blanck.
Interim Public Works Director Dave Mulkey, Parks and Recreation Director John Keisler, Finance
Director David Bacon, Deputy Public Works Director Avellno Lampitoc and Chief Building Official
John Richardson.
2. AND 3. FLAG SALUTE AND INVOCATION j
Mayor Millis led the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag, and Father Michael O'Sullivan-.J
delivered the invocation.
4. OATH OF OFFICE ADMINISTERED TO COUNCIL MEMBER M.P. "PETE" GALLAGHER,
.ill.
City Manager Chris Christiansen administered the Oath of Office to M. P. "Pete"
Gallagher, III, newly appointed Council Member replacing former Council Member Doris Olsen.
The Council congratuiated Pete and the Mayor then recognized Pete's wife, Abby, and daughter,
Kristin, as well as Pete's father and mother, former Council Member Matthew Gallagher and
his wife Georgiana. Mayor Millis stated that this was the first time In the City's history that
a son has followed his father on the Council.
5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
None.
6. ADJOURNMENT
Council Member Gallagher took the opportunity to thank the Council for their
deliberations In electing him to the Council and was looking forward to working with the Council
and the City. It was then moved by Council Member Gallagher/Smith, and the motion passed,
to adjourn at 7:45 P.M. to a reception In the Council Chambers honoring Council Member M.
P. "Pete" Gallagher, III.
