ORDINANCE NO. 167
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 82 OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE BY CHANGING
THE MAKE-UP OF THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE CITY PLANNING
COMMISSION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO
GRANDE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 82 of the City of Arroyo Grande,
entitled "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AND CREATING A PLANNING
COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE" passed and adopted
the 19th day of June, 1946 is herewith amended so that Section 2 thereof
shall read as follows, to wit:
"SECTION 2. The City Planning Commission shall consist
" of nine (9) members; eight (8) members to be appointed by
the Mayor, with the approval of the Council; one member
may be the City Engineer, or the Mayor may appoint an
additional member with the approval of the Council; one
member shall be selected from the City Council. The mem-
ber from the City Council shall be an ex officio member and
shall not be entitled to a vote, but his presence shall be
counted in determining whether there is a quorum of the
Planning Commis sion present for any meeting."
SECTION 2. This Ordinance is deemed to be an emergency
ordm.ance and the reasons therefor are as follows, to wit: It has
become increasingly difficult for the Planning Commission to obtain a
quorum for its meetings, and the City Attorney's presence is seldom
obtainable, and is seldom necessary, that the proposed change in
members hip herein set forth will enable the Planning Commission to
be at full strength at all times. For such reasons and for the benefit
of the health and safety of the residents of the City of Arroyo Grande,
this Ordinance shall take effect immediately on its passage, and within
15 days thereafter it shall be published once, together with the names
of the councilmen voting thereon, in the Herald Recorder, a newspaper
of general circulation in the City of Arroyo Grande.
On motion of Councilman Jacobs , seconded by Councilman
McNeil , and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
