AN ORDINANCE Or' THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE REQUIRING THE
ISSUANCE OF BUILDING PERMITS IN CONNECTION WITH THE
CONSTRUCTION OF CEMENT BLOCK OR CONCRETE WALLS, PRO-
VIDING FOR FEES THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES
FOR VIOLATIONS
The City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: Any person, firm, association or corporation desiring to
construct a wall or fence out of cement block or concrete, shall, before
doing 50, secure a building permit so to do from the City Clerk.
SECTION 2: No cement block or concrete wall or fence shall be con_
structed closer than one foot from a front property line. Nor shall such
wall or fence exceed three and one half feet in height within a distance
of twenty feet from the front of any lot or any established set_back
lines, whichever is the greater distance. No such wall or fence shall
exceed six feet in height at any other portion of its construction. The
width or thickness of any such wall or fence shall be not less than six
inches and shall be of such greater width or thickness, and contain such
reinforcement, as shall, in the opinion of the Building Inspector of the
City of Arroyo Grande, be required to assure stability and firmness.
SECTION 3: Any person, before attempting the construction of any
such cement block or concrete wall or fence, shall first make an appli-
cation for permit so to do upon forms provided for such purpose by the
Building Inspector of the City of Arroyo Grande. Said applicant shall
provide plans showing the location, height, thickness, and manner of
construction of said wall. Fees for such permits shall be in such amounts
as may from time to time be set by Resolution of the City Council.
SECTION 4: Any person, firm, association or corporation violating
any of the terms of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a mis_
demeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be imprisoned for a period
of ninety (90) days or be fined in the sum of Three Hundred ($300.00)
Dollars, or be punished by both such fine and imprisonment.

SECTION 5: This ordinance shall be in fqll force and effect thirty
(30) days after its passage and within fifteen (15) days after its
passage shall be published once in the Arroyo Grande Herald_Recorder, a
newspaper printed and circqlated in the City of Arroyo Grande, together
with the names of the Councilmen voting for and against the same.
