AN ORDINANCE OF THE, CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE CREATING THE OFFICE OF
BUILDING INSPECTOR; REGULATING THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, ENLARGE-
MENT, ALTERATION, REPAIR, HOVING, REKOVAL, DEXOLITION, CONVERSION,
OCCUPANCY, EQUIPMENT, USE, HEIGHT, AREA AND XAINTENANCE OF BUILDINGS
OR STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE: PROVIDING FOR THE ISSU-
ANCE OF PERKITS AND COLLECTION OF FEES THEREFOR; PROYIDING PENALTIES
FOR VIOLATION THEREOF; AND REPEALING ORDINANCES NOS. 47, 69, 73, 77
and 83 AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE IN CON-
FLICT THEREWITH.
Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Arroyo Grande, as
follows:
SECTION 1. The office of Building Inspector of the City of
Arroyo Grande is hereby created, and the Building Inspector is hereby
authorized and directed to administer and enforce all of the pro-
visions of this Ordinance and of the building code hereinafter re-
ferred to, and for such purpose, he shall have the powers of a police
'officer.
SECTION 2. That a certain document, three (3) copies of which
are on file in the Office of the City Clerk of the City of Arroyo
Grande, being marked and designated as .Uniform Building Code, 1952
Edition,. and Which said copies may be indentified by the Seal of
the City of Arroyo Grande appearing thereon, be, and the same is
hereby adopted as the building code of the City of Arroyo Grande
for regulating the erection, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving,
removal, demolition, conversion, occupa~, equipment, use, height,
area and maintenance of all building an or structures in the City of
Arroyo Grande; providing for issuance of building permits and collec-
tion of fees therefor; and each and all of the regulations, provisions,
penal ties, conditions and terms of said "Uniform Building Code, 1952
Edition,. are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof as
if fully set out in this Ordinance; except such provisions as are
modified hereinafter.
SECTION 3. The Building Inspector shall be appointed by the City
Council and shall hold office at the pleasure of the City Council.
The Building Inspector shall receive such salary as may be determined
by resolution of the City Council.
SECTION 4. The City Council may at any time, consolidate and
place in oharge of any other official of the City, the functions and
duties of the Building Inspeotor.
SECTION 5. Ordinances Nos. 47, 69, 73, 77 and 83 and all other
ordinanoes or parts of ordinances of the City of Arroyo Grande in con_
flict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. It is the intention of tbe City Council of tbe City
ofJ..tt'oyo Grande, that tbe Uniform Building Code shall at all times
be in full foroe and effect in tbe City of Arroyo Grande, Recognizing
that from time to time said Uniform Building Code is amended, en-
largedand/or adjusted to meet changing conditions, tbe City Council
maYt from time to time, by resolution, adopt; later amenda.ats or
edi ions of the Uniform Building Code and furtber may from time to
time by resolution adopt regul~tions amending, altering, enlarging or
restricting powers granted to persons, firms, corporations and associ-
ations in connection witb the ereotion, construction, enlarge.ent,
alterations, repair, moving, removal, demolition, conversion, occupancy,
equipment, use, beight, area an~aintenance of buildings or structures

in the City of Arroyo Grande. ~n such event, three copies of such
resolutions shall be kept On file in the office of the City Clerk,
being.....arked and designated as .Uniform Building Code, 'Resolutions
and Regulations. which said copies may be indentified by the Seal of
the City of Arroyo Grande.
SECTION 7. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
and effect thirty (30) days a(ter its final passage and before the ex_
piration of fifteen (15) days after its passage it shall be published
with the a..es of the members voting for and against the same at least
once in the Arroyo Grande Herald-ReCOrdert a new8pa~er of geaeral cir.
