RESOLUTION NO. 3701
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARROYO GRANDE APPROVING STAFF PROJECT 03-002;
RENAMING STERLING DRIVE TO PAULDING CIRCLE
WHEREAS, the developer has requested that Sterling Drive be renamed Paulding Circle;
and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Arroyo Grande held a public hearing
on June 3, 2003 in accordance with City Code and unanimously recommended the street
name change; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission found that this street name change is consistent
with the City's General Plan and Development Code; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed this project in compliance with the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and has determined that the project is
Categorically Exempt per Section 15301 of the CEQA Guidelines; and
WHEREAS, the City's Police, Fire and Public Works departments all support this name
change to improve emergency response, and no adverse comments have been received
after public notice to property owners, post office and utility companies; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds after due study, deliberation and public hearing, the
following circumstances exist:
FINDINGS FOR APPROVAL
That changing the name of Sterling Place to Paulding Circle will alleviate confusion for the
response of emergency vehicles and be of benefit to the public health, safety and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande
hereby approves renaming Sterling Drive to Paulding Circle, as depicted on Attachment 2
incorporated herein.
On motion of Council Member Dickens, seconded by Council Member Runels, and on
the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Dickens, Runels. Lubin, Costello and Mayor Ferrara
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was adopted this 12th day of August 2003.
