A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
! ARROYO GRANDE ESTABLISHING A JOB DESCRIPTION AND
SALARY RANGE FOR THE SENIOR OFFICE ASSISTANT
POSITION
1 WHEREAS, the full-time position of Office Assistant I in the City Manager's Office was
I eliminated on June 14, 2005 per City Council Resolution Number 3853; and

I
I WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande ("City") deems it in the best
i interest of the City to establish a part-time Senior Office Assistant position based on the
duties that will be assigned to this position; and
i
i WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande ("City") deems it in the best
I
I interest of the City to establish a job description for the position of Senior Office
I Assistant, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by
i this reference; and
I
I
! . WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande ("City") deems it in the best
I
interest of the City to establish a salary range for the position of Senior Office Assistant.
I This position will be placed on the permanent part-time employee salary schedule.
I
i NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arroyo
! Grande that the position of Senior Office Assistant is hereby established to perform the
I duties and responsibilities set forth in the job description attached as Exhibit "A". The
! permanent part-time position of Senior Office Assistant shall receive the rates of pay as '

I JOB OBJECTIVES:
I To provide general office assistance in support of the City Manager's Office and Administrative Services
I Department; to perform a variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative tasks; to provide information to
I citizens, the generai public, and City staff; and to create and maintain a variety of records and files.

1. Type, proofread, and word process a variety of correspondence, letters, reports, forms and
documents from rough drafts, verbal instruction or dictation.
2. Assist with the preparation and distribution of a variety of docum~nts and forms including general
correspondence, reports, agenda packet materials, minutes, ordinances, resolutions, and
, memoranda; copy, mail, and post notices and agendas.

3. Receive and screen visitors and telephone .calls in a professional manner and with a high level of
customer seNice; respond to public inquiries or route calls or visitars to appropriate personnel;
provide information on departmental and City policies and procedures as required; accept
i applications and payments.
I 4. File and maintain accurate and up-to-date records and files for assigned areas; monitor various
I logs, accounts and files for current and accurate information.

I 5. Receive, sort, distribute, and post incoming and outg.oing mail and correspondence; copy and

Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible clerical experience.

Enviranmental Canditions:
Office environment; may travel from site to site; exposure to computer screens; contact with the general
