Minutes 1982-05-12 146 CITY'COUNCIL ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA MAY 12, 1982 The. City Council met in an adjourned session with the members of the Parks and Recreation Commission with Mayor Smith presiding.' Upon roll call, Council Members Matt Gallagher and KarlA. Hogan reported present. Council Members Lawrence E. Vandeveer and Mark M. Millis' were absent'. Also present were Parks and Recreation Commissioners' Dorace' H. Johnson, Chairperson, Gee Gee Sote, Particia J. Sanger, Gary E. Thies, Jack Dunbar, 'Mike Thomas, and Alex T. Woolworth. Parks and Recreation Director Keisler stated 'some of the goals for the J 1982-83 Fiscal Year are So to Sports Complex, Terra De Ora Park, and Strother Park. He dispayed'a plan of Terra De Oro Park which proposes a fitness course. He explained that the Five Cities Jay Cees have volunteered". labor for the park. Mr. Keisler also displayed a plan of Soto Sports Complex . and there was discussion regarding the baseball diamonds. He stated that goals for Str6ther Park in~lude restrooms, picnic areas, and horseshoe pits. There was discussion regarding the erosion of the bank near the tennis courts at So to Sports Complex. Mayor Smith stated that this should be corrected as they are existing facilities. She requested that Staff, look into this problem. There was discussion regarding the water::well on Elm Street. Administrator Sheldon stated that the area around the well will be planted. There was discussion regarding the 1982-83 budget. Administrator Sheldon reported that one-fourth million dollars has been taken out by the State, but he believes the City may be able to maintain currently provided services. Recreation Director Keisler stated that the park development fee needs to be increased. He reported that in most other cities the fee averages $640, while ours is $200. There was discussion regarding selling La Barranca Park and purchasing another site for a park.
