ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA
SEPTEMBER 29, 1980
The City Council met in a joint session with the Parking. and Business Improye-
ment Area Advisory Board ,with Mayor Pope presiding. Upon roll call, Council
Members B'Ann Smith, Karl A. Hogan, MarklM/,Millis, and Lawrence E. Vandeveer
reported p~esent. Chairman David Loomis, Alice Rouse, and Ira Hughes
of the Advisory Board were present.
DISCUSSION: OF ADDITIONAL PARKING AREA WITHIN THE VILLAGE AREA, 1. e., THE
NEED FOR A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF THE POTENTIAL BUILDABLE AREAS AND FUTURE
CIRCULATION IMPROVEMENT WITHIN THE VILLAGE
After discussion, it was suggested by"Council that members of
the assessment district be" polled to determine if they are still interested
in the district; set the scope of, a study; determine the cost of the study;
and returnl to the Council for review and concurrance.

WHAT CAPITAL PROGRAMS HAVE THE COUNCIL PLANNED FOR THE VILLAGE AREA?
Council noted the conversion of the old fire station; the
extension ~f West Branch Street; update of the Traffic Way signal; and the
long range' plan for the extension of Lepoint Street.

DISCUSSION OF COUNCIL FEELING, RE: CONDEMNATION OF LAND FOR PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY
The Board was concerned regarding the attitude of the Council
regarding acquiring public property by condemnation of land. The general
attitude bf the Council was that condemnation would only be used where there
is a major problem.
ADJOURNMENT
, Upon motion of Council Member Vandeveer, seconded by Council Member
Millis, it was unanimously voted to adjourn to a study session with the Parks
and Recreation Commission on October 6, 1980 at 7:30 P.M.
