A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO
GRANDE AUTHORIZING THE FIRE CHIEF OF THE FIVE CITIES
FIRE AUTHORITY TO PREPARE A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
(RFP) FOR THE WEED ABATEMENT PROGRAM ON BEHALF OF
THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
WHEREAS, the cities of Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach and the Oceano
Community Services District created the Five Cities Fire Authority ( "FCFA ")
pursuant to Government Code §§ 6500 et seq. by executing a Joint Exercise of
Powers Agreement ( "JPA ") for the purpose of providing more efficient and effective
fire protection services within the agency's respective jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, each Spring, the City conducts its Annual Weed Abatement Program
pursuant to Arroyo Grande Municipal Code Chapter 8.44, previously administered
by the Arroyo Grande Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the FCFA has budgeted funds to administer each jurisdiction's Weed
Abatement Program; and
WHEREAS, the FCFA desires to consolidate each jurisdiction's Weed Abatement
process into one program to be administered by the FCFA; and
WHEREAS, the FCFA seeks approval from the City Council to prepare and issue a
Request for Proposals ( "RFP ") for Weed Abatement contractor services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo
Grande authorizes the Fire Chief of the Five Cities Fire Authority to prepare and
issue a Request for Proposals for the Weed Abatement Program on behalf of the
City.
On motion by Council Member Brown, seconded by Council Member Guthrie, and
by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Council Members Brown, Guthrie, Costello, Ray, and Mayor Ferrara
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
